You know that any truth can be proven wrong if you take science and math and make it disprove it and yet in the end it will come down to you and what you believe in your heart! I have always said that if I go through my life and not believe and the time comes for death and I am faced by God then I will pay the price for not believing. If I go through life believing and am faced by death and there in no God then I have no wasted my life and shall die in peace. I choose to believe because there is no science that can convience me there is no God. Too many miracles in life to believe they just happen by chance. I for one am proud to say IN GOD I TRUST! You can do as you please!

I don't remember claiming to be especially tolerant, so I'm not sure how you can know how tolerant I think I am.

As for informed, well, I spent most of my life seeking the Christian God, so yeah, I am pretty well informed about Christianity. Childhood recollections? Quacking lady next door? You are making things up.

No, I do not hate Christianity. But I'm no fan of it.

Just browing the internet. Heard Brannon for the first time. Don't know if I believed him or not. Entered several websites of his detractors. Never read such vituperation. Where is the scholarly refutation? Was his evaluation of Saul Alinsky or Antonio Gramasci wrong --- if taken from a Christian perspective. Do you hate Christianity too? What do you know about it, save from childhood recollections? or the quacking lady next door? You are not as informed or as tolerant as you think you are.

I too call myself a "Christ Follower"....much different than the Christian some folks claim to be. Somehow, it always seems people outside organized church look at Christ Followers and find fault....well that is because we live in a fallen world.....we don't claim to be perfect except through the blood of Christ....who perfects us through his sacrifice on the Cross. Is it hard to believe? Of course it is.....we accept it on simple faith knowing that throughout the years.....the Bible has been preserved and protected.....it is true....we accept in Genesis 1.....In the Beginning God.....
and end it with Revelations. It holds the only truth....God's truth...but your heart has to be open.....and you must ask for His Holy Spirit to reveal it to you.

Dear Wondering
I grew up in churches full of hypocrites too -- I attend church now, and guess what? It too is full of hypocrites. If I can shed any light on this for you at all, it would be to tell you that we live in a fallen world - it isn't the way God originally intended it to be, but He has made provision for the problem through Christ. God doesn't hold a man/woman accountable for the problem of sin in the world. He only holds us accountable if we reject His Son and what was done on the cross. Yes, the church is filled with hypocrites and nasty people - because that's what kind of people inhabit this planet -- sinful ones. There "is," however, a transforming process that takes place in a persons life once they accept Christ as who He said He was -- but it is a process that takes place over the course of a persons life. There are very Godly people "out there" but they are not recognized by the world. They have truly understood what it means to be a servant (which is what Jesus taught) and they are out there serving. They will be among those who are "first" in Heaven, but they are "last" while here in this life. If you look hard enough you will see them. Lastly, Jesus said, "Take up your cross and follow Me." He said. "Look to Me" He said, "Take My yoke upon you." The biggest travesty to mankind is that people reject Christianity because they have their eyes on the wrong thing. Instead of discounting Christianity based on how wrongfully humans who call themselves Christians look, look to Christ and put your eyes on Him. He says, "I stand at the door and I knock. If anyone opens the door I will come in." Again, my point all along has been -- people need to find out for themselves who this Jesus really is. If you are sincere, He will bring people, circumstances, reading material or whatever it takes to reveal Himself into your life -- you only need to ask Him.

OK K....
Please tell me then why the nastiest people I have met claim to be Christian. If people are transformed by salvation I have not seen it. I grew up in a church full of hypocrites and backstabbers. What a testimony.

Simple as that? Actually it's as simple as this... When Jesus asked Peter, "Who do you say that I am?" Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the son of the living God." Jesus then said, "You would not know this were it not for the fact that the Father has revealed it to you." My point being, God reveals Himself to those who are willing to drop all defenses (as Peter did) and set out to find out just who this Jesus person really is (as Peter did). The book I recommended to you was written by a man who did just that -- an atheist who set out to disprove Christianity. On your quest for the truth I hope you'll check it out, You see, Jason, the reason things are so exasperating for you is because us Christians understand the bottom line is learning to receive Grace. Once you understand grace, you want others to know about it too. It goes beyond just being "right"- which by the way, I understand I cannot win this discussion because this is your blog, and you must have the last word which I know you will prove me right on that. So, I will bow out - still hoping, though, that you will add the McDowell book to your quest for truth. As I said, it's way too improtant.

My life is a quest for truth, and I go where the evidence takes me. Simple as that. You have no idea how many times in the last year I have had this exact same conversation. It's exasperating.
