I just finished a new song called The Ecstasy of Mallard. Please, would you take a moment to go and listen to it and tell me what you think?
Here is the story behind this song: Yesterday I was telling Kevin, aka Mr. Spider, that at my shows I was plannin to choose an audience member and ask them to suggest a song for me to sample. I would then choose another audience member to suggest a topic I would write about, and for the next show I would have a song written about the topic using samples from the suggested song.
So Kevin challenged me to do a proof of concept. And this is the result.

I have to thank my good friend Ron Eddy for doing me the favor of recording this. Ron used a small digital voice recorder with a condenser microphone and recorded from the crowd. We paid the venue $20 for a recording of the show made from the board, and Ron’s version blows the board’s version out of the freaking water. So thanks Ron!
As most of you know, I performed my first live show as Three Ninjas last Wednesday night. I’ve been waiting until I got the video and audio uploaded to mention it here, but my friend Chris Harris The Purple Fool has already reviewed it!
He also described my music as “not necessarily what you’d call ‘accessible’ at all times”. Cool!
I get the feeling that most of the people who read this site aren’t into beat making, but that’s ok, because this website is about stuff I like, and I like Boon Doc!

As I’m sure you’re tired of hearing, I love to make music, especially with samplers. One of my favorite people on Earth is Boon Doc, a hip hop producer in Denver.

Yes, that’s right. I just uploaded a brand new Three Ninjas song. Three Ninjas is my “stage” name, for those who don’t know. “Stage” is in quotes because Three Ninjas has never actually been on a stage.

Last Saturday I went to see a Seattle-based band called Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head. They’re a great and fun band, and you should listen to their music! As evidence I offer you this video I took of their final song, Ice Age Babeland. As always, I apologize for the horrible sound quality.
