Hilarious Creationist Quotes
Today’s quote comes from Comfort Food / Soapbox / Atheist Central reader verandoug, responding to my explanation that blind cave salamanders still have the genes to create functional eyes:
I also wonder if some of the things we do do not directly effect our genome especially sin. It will be interesting as scientific evidence unfolds. [Source]

Veradung attempts science again. It gets scarier every time.

There are several children who receive their education exclusively from this woman. That’s even scarier.

Getting an education from that source sounds like a trap to me.

The best I can understand that statement is: When we sin, perhaps our genome evolves somehow, and it will be interesting as science uncovers the evidence to prove it…
…which is ridiculous.
Tell her I said so, please. Or not. Whatevs.

That’s like something straight out of the Left Behind series: Scientists to Announce that Sin Changes Human Genome on CNN

Yall are missing a comedy goldmine here.
Which sins cause which evolutionary changes? How would those supernatural selection pressures cause a species to change over time?
Because I do not fully understand sexual dimorphism among humans, I will offer a hypothesis from a male perspective.
Lust: All males would be born blind, and probably missing a hand.
Gluttony: Men would be allergic to all meat.
Greed: Evolution driven by supernatural selection would have shaped the instinctive behavior of males so that they no longer find sports cars or yachts attractive. See Lust.
Sloth: Again evolution would change instinctive behavior. The tv, movie and video game market would crash.
Wrath: Again behavior change. Supernatural selection would make every male immune to racism, sexism, homophobia and etc.
Envy: See Lust, Greed and Wrath. ;)
Pride: See list of Virtues. Which would tend to extinguish the human species.
I see the evidence already.
