Roadtrip 2007 | Day 3: The Redwood Forest
In the July month of 2007, my wife and I took a road trip from Seattle, WA to San Diego, CA with stops in between.
This is Day 3. We woke up in the Redwood Forest and spent most of the day driving through it. It was incredibly amazing. There were some amazing views of the ocean, and we passed a place called Trees of Mystery that had a large wooden reproduction of Remington’s “End of the Trail” (I HATE that statue). We didn’t go into Trees of Mystery, though I kind of wish we had. We did drive through a redwood tree though. Just like you see on postcards.
After leaving the Redwood Forest, we ate lunch in a restaurant located on a pier, and in the water under the pier were several harbor seals. I was amazed. We passed a shop called Legend of Bigfoot where I bought some redwood seedlings and some live burls, some of which are still alive! We drove down California 1, which was very, very winding. I got kind of nauseated during parts of it, and the whole thing was very slow-going.
We slept in a hotel in Petaluma, CA, a place devoid of non-chain restaurants. Blech.
